Is it possible? I used the patch and executable archive method, and when I go to play it says I need to download a patch again. Am I missing a step?

Perhaps you have to make the "AUTO UPDATE". I heared so...... Just try it and tell again!;)

Hm, ok. I'll replace all the essential stuff with the originals on the CD and try again.

so are your buildings exploding yet?...the recent patch has a trigger built into it so it detects the nocd crack...20 seconds into a game...boom....sneaky huh:)

Running 1.2 no-cd here, no exploding buildings or other problems. But I havent tried No-cd online or much of this game anyways, seems to be a did-it done-it type of game. Dune/Redalert/CC franchise has been scratched off my list in the future.

Great to hear that the game is working for you, mine keeps crashing back to desktop every now and then..probably because I got a MoBo with KT133a...

Nope. I always thought that happened if you
a) Had an invalid key, or
b) Changed the key after installing.
B is what happened to me before, until a friend who had no intention of playing online bought it and gave me his key.

No i actually own the game...the problem is with the online crack, i can get into the forum/chat area but when i start a game 20 seconds into it kaboom...i'm not the only one others have complained of the same problem...
Personally though i could care less to play this game online it to me is nothing more than a singleplayer game...so i'm using the regular no/cd and once i finish all the missions i'll probly shelf the game anyway...too many other good games on the horizon :)
Hey guys I installed the game and i wanted to play the game online. I downloaded the max-ccgenerals online and the dev-ccg . Now I followed these instructions exactly
Install the game - Full Installation.
Replace the original GENERALS.EXE & GENERALS_CODE.EXE files with the ones from the Executable Archive.
Replace the original GAME.DAT file with the one from the Patch Archive.
Extract the 65537_65536_12544.RTP file from the Patch Archive to the <GameDir>\PATCHES directory.
Startup the game to apply the patch.
Exit the game.
Replace the original GENERALS.EXE, GENERALS_CODE.EXE & GAME.DAT files with the ones from the Executable Archive.
Now the problem is whenever i try to play online it says you have to download an update. Now is this the update which is included in dev-ccg or should I download the ver 1.2 patch and place the game.dat file which is the only file in the zip archive. So what should I do guys can u help me out please. thanks for all the help in advance

I have figured out a simple fix to this problem -
1) Download the Executable archive from gamecopyworld.com
2) Replace the Generals.exe and Generals_Code.exe from the executable archive.
***DO NOT REPLACE THE GAME.DAT FILE YET!***
3) Start the game and go to multiplayer -> online. The patch will download and should install without a problem.
4) Exit the game when it restarts.
5) Replace the game.dat file with the one from the executable archive.
6) Play the game. It should work flawlessly.
If you have problems here, you can get an alternate copy of of the Generals.exe and game.dat files from http://koti.mbnet.fi/coixi/generals (the site is in german if i remember, but the file names are clear as day), then follow the above instructions using those files instead of the ones from the executable archive. Those are what I used and it worked.
Be forewarned - you must have the v1.2 patch already installed in order for this to work!
Hope this helps...I'm working on getting the files and info uploaded to GameCopyWorld.
Happy gaming!

I have a mobo with KT133a and it runs fine. I do have the latest BIOS and VIA drivers installed. Running an AMD Tbred B.

4) Exit the game when it restarts.
5) Replace the game.dat file with the one from the executable archive.
When exit the game after auto update, it will show a notepad about the updates and suddenly start the game. I cannot replace the game.dat file with the one from the executable archive because the game.dat was in use (cannot replace it).
Do I have to be very quick and replace the game.dat right after the auto update was done?
I tried so many different ways, still I got an invalid cdkey.

Sorry about being unclear:
When the game starts on its own (after you see the notepad about the updates), this is when you need to exit and copy over the game.dat file
So basically it goes like this...
3) Click multiplayer -> online, and the patch will download. It will prompt you to exit the program to install the patch. Click ok and the game will quit and the update will install. A notepad with update information will pop up, and then the game will automatically start again.
4) Exit the game again
5) Replace the game.dat file with the one from the executable archive.
Then start the game and play all the multiplayer you want (until the next patch, of course!)
Again, sorry I wasn't clear about the order of events. Hope this works for you! (I'm still trying to find a valid serial so that I don't screw my friend out of online play)
Happy gaming (again!)

I tried all the stuff, read all the topics, but still I have this:
* Updated to version 1.2
* I can play without CD
* When I start MULTIPLAYER -> ONLINE, i'm getting the:
"Serial number is invalid. Please try another one"...
I have tried to change the serial number in the registry, but no luck.
The strange thing is, I have also tried the serial number my brother uses, and he bought the game. (note: we don't go online at the same time!)
Anybody any ideas?

Anybody any ideas? Yes. BUY THE GAME. You just admitted you're pirating it.

Who said I was pirating it? Like I said, my brother bought it. Now I have installed the game also from his copy. My brother visits me many times and we would like to play it online on this system also, without constantly bringing the CD's to my place...
I was wondering why we cannot use the same serial... and why it's INVALID...

I was wondering why we cannot use the same serial... and why it's INVALID... It's illegal for your brother to give a copy to you. It would be a different matter if it was his second pc, but it's clearly YOUR pc. It's not because you don't seem to understand the basics of the EULA's you're always clicking on that this makes it legal. It is not, trust me. Now I think I have said time and again : we don't care what you do at home, but DON'T come here with questions about your illegal copies. This is a BACKUP forum, for LEGAL owners. Look up the term, but consider this a warning : if I see you trying again on this board, you're busted.

This isnt a NOCD issue, call EA/WestWood and ask them.
