ok, i've don't my homework, i really have.

i've got a sever case of the noob's but i's managed to install my X2 lite mod properly, with switches.

made an iso, and edited my .ini file for ftp

finally got my xbox to read evox from a dvd-rw and my dashboard is up and running now, but i have the worst luck when it comes to networking.

i'm using a crossover cable directly from the pc to the xbox.

pc's ip = 192.168.0.1
xbox's = 192.168.0.157
subnet mask = 255.255.255.0
user name = EvoX
password = xbox

should i be messing with the preferred & alternate DNS. it's all 0's on the xbox and blankn on the pc's properties.

please i'm begging here, i've bee at this for almost a month not with no results. i know it can be do but what am i missing

thanks in advance

Make sure you have configured the evoX.ini. Here are some of my settings but you can change these when evox is installed on the HD.

[Misc]

AutoLaunchGames = No
AutoLaunchDVD = No
DVDPlayer = "c:\Applications\dvdx\default.xbe"
AutoLaunchAudio = Yes
#AudioPlayer = "c:\msxboxdash.xbe"
MSDashBoard = "c:\msxboxdash.xbe"
UseFDrive = Yes
SkinName = Administr8or
IGR = Yes

[Network]

SetupNetwork = Yes
StaticIP = Yes
Ip = 192.168.0.157
Subnetmask = 255.255.255.0
Defaultgateway = 192.168.0.1
DNS1 = 0.0.0.0
DNS2 = 0.0.0.0

Enter the TCP/IP Properties for your network card and where it's say's obtain IP and DNS Address automatically make sure these are ticked, then click on the alternate configuration tab and enter the IP address manually 192.168.0.1, Subnet Mask should be 255.255.255.0 and everything else should be left blank. Also, in the Advanced options under WINS i enabled Netbios over TCP/IP, as this sorted out a few connection proplems. Make sure as well that your firewall is turned off, i.e. Zonealarm for example.

If you mean 'Auto Load' DVD and games, etc. Make sure you click on save and exit, once you have set them to off. Also, when you have saved your settings try re-booting the Xbox to see if that helps as well.

i'm using flashFXP.
i've got it to work a 3 times now but it seems to have a mind of it's own it boots directly in to the game when ever it feels.

but thanks to everyone i managed to back-up 3 of my games with:

-v1.0 xbox
-x2 lite mod
-evox 1.8.3285 (Pioneer DVD-rw to install it)
-FlashFXP 1.4.3
-prassi primo 2.0 (using Dudes burn method)

once again thanks, it's good to learn a few new skills, fun stuff.
