Is there any differences in the installation between magic 3.0 and 3.1?

I have a 3.0 now, but maybe i can get a 3.1 for free... how hard would it be to change it? do i have to move any cables or can i just use the old ones?

thanx for any help...

Ok...

But what about the DVD9-support that is supposed to be at the Magic 3.1 chip? How important is this? I only play backups... just have the original as a "backup" :) Dont want to scratch my $50 games...

Also i heard that a few games are freezing on 3.0 ? I don't have any problem with GTA3 thu...

Game freezes..? Is this only the backup of the game, or is it the original to? (if the chip is turned on)

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is one of the games that tend to freeze...(Original or backup).....

It doesn't do it on ALL Magic 3 consoles........

Even the new 3.1 STILL has some problems with rips and dvd9....

(This came from Charlie_PS2's review of the chip)

I regard the Messiah 2 as the benchmark modchip. All the games in the list that either didn't boot or which booted occasionally but not always on Magic 3.1, booted perfectly first time every time with Messiah 2. The magic family booting strategy still needs improvement in my opinion.

If you can get a 3.1 for free.... Then get it, sell it, and get a Messiah 2.....
