ANSWER: Yes you need a modchip unless you want to wreck the PS2 by other methods. Go to http://www.playstationmods.com and order a Neo2.2. Order with it Action replay 2 which will serve as your boot disk.

Hi,

I went for the REGION X as my boot cd because its the quickest boot cd on the market for the ps2 plus you get multi-region DVD playback and that my friend is better then cheating your way through a game using the action replay 2.

NEO2.2 is a fine chip (i have this one, very pleased with it)

altough the NEO2.5 is less wires and has a slightly easyier boot method for backups, the choice is yours.

www.kanection.co.uk is a good place to look for ps2 stuff

Cheers

i don't agree with cheating in games as this defies the object of the game.i only want it as a boot up disc but im afraid ive already ordered the disc and the chip. i dont need to play dvd's on it as this is my third dvd player in the house now. thnx for your opinion anyway

:O)

Hi,

You have made a good choice going for the NEO2.2 chip it has proven to be the most reliable NEO chip avaliable at the moment. Infact im so pleased with mine i have no intention of upgrading to a NEO4 or similar. The REGION X is also a very good boot cd it is the quickest on the market and gives you the bonus of multi-region playback, which i feel is better then the action replay which just allows u to cheat your way through a game....

once you know the booting methods and how the chip likes u to boot games you will have a 100% success rate in booting your backups.

Let us know how you get once you have installed your mod
