Do you know of any good websites? Everything I have found is in Britain, and I don't really want to deal with all that, as i am in the states...also i have seen them for 14$$...you know of anyplace less than that?

I think the PS-X-chage disk works well, just as good as any mod-chip I have except you do have to swap disks. The trouble you'll find is the X-change disk can be detected and you'd need to use anti-mod codes the same as if you had and older mod-chip. It is a good alternative to a mod-chip. I have two Playstations with mod-chips and I use the PS-X-change disk for my PSone.
I did have one playstation ruined because of a faulty mod-chip, nothing to do with installation the chip was programed wrong.

do you remember what kind of chip it was, and/or where you got it?

No, I can't say that I do, it was back in 1999/2000 so too long ago for me to remember. It was a early stealth chip, back when they started making Mod-chips that wouldn't play back-ups, this one could thou.

allright...but i definitely want a stealth one...are those the best ones...or are all of them stealth?
no normal chips only have 4 wires the stealth chip has 7 wires and a different code on the chip!
