Messiah or Magic PS2 MOD?

I currently have a few years old PS2 with a Neo 2 or 2.2 MOD and the Gameshark swap method. I want to switch to the no swap MOD such as the Messiah or Magic...which do u suggest? Which versions will work in my console? My model # is 30001. I want to copy PS2 DVD games with my A05 and PrimoDVD or RecordNow Max software. I heard that I have to buy a new PS2 console since the Neo MOD does something to the laser...is this true?
Any info would be appreciated.

The neo 2.2 modchip is not good for ur laser, if u have problems reading dvd's on it, then u should think about getting a new pre-modded ps2 with a messiah 2, if it still can read dvd's properly then get a messiah 2 professionally installed, it is well worth it.

Even if your laser appears to be ok I would still get rid of it. The Neo eats it up. Just get a new premod with a Messiah 2.

Ok, I was kinda in FantomLord's situation quite awhile ago. I ended up getting a Magic 2 mod. Since then, I've had a slew of problems. Some types of media just wouldn't work properly with my Magic 2. Some froze, while others just wouldn't load at all. Anyway, I'm thinking of getting a brand new ps2 premod system with Messiah 2. But how would I go about getting rid of my old premod system? I'm not made of money after all.

If originals still work ok, take out the Magic and put it on ebay.

but if neo 2 installed properly then laser could b ok
i had same model with neo2 replaced with messiah 1 i sold it 2 months ago still reading dvdr np
