installation questions

On my computer i have my lite-on 166s, yamaha 3200 and my sony dru-500a....when i install them, where should they be on the ide cables? should the lite-on and dru-500 be on the same cable? or should the dru and harddrive be on the same cable? because i'm having problems with dvdxcopy recognizing my dvd drive? currently on my primary ide, i have hd as master and dru-500 as slave....should i change it? and if so to what?

If you want to do backups on the fly i believe you'll need to have the cd and dvd on different IDE ports. Personally i have all three on seperate ide ports, and i'm not all that sure about what you can put where or not.

Can your computer even detect your sony dru 500 on your hard drive IDE channel? Because I believe the hard drive IDE channel is only for hard drives (Primary Master and Slave). I think you can only have 2 CD-ROM based devices on the other IDE Channel (Secondary Master and Slave). I recommend you buying a PCI IDE Card; some will let you add up to 4 more IDE/ATAPI devices with no problems.

yea it detects the dru..and yea you can put a cd-rom drive on the harddrive ide cable....however i did switch it because i was having problems with dvdxcopy...i did successfully copy a ps2 game though...i don't remember exactly what my error is though..if i get again, i'll post thanx though
