Here is my problem, Installed a magic3 chip into V7 ps2. Put together and booted up with any ps2 game no problem. but after about 30 seconds the machine turns itself down to standby, and wont turn back on by pressing red button. if the eject button is pressed the ps2 tries to start up and then just turns off again after 2 seconds. If i unplug the power cord and wait a few minutes plug back in and turn on then the same thing happens again. Removed the chip, checked there are no solder splashes or damaged contacts, put back together, and it does the same.

Have i screwed it up or is there a fix. can anybody help...Thanks

Haven't heard of this problem before but certainly sounds like it if you've removed the chip and it is still happening. Try emailing the people you bought the chip from an see if they've heard of the problem or emailing a site that repairs ps2's and ask for their advice.

Lots of luck

might be worth pulling apart and checking heat sinks on upper side of pcb are in place and okay. Also that yr mod not blocking airflow to processor in any way and finally get a couple of cool box ice packs and ram them in the expansion slot to keep it cool............um no better not. Must be some reason why it overheating and if its only happened since you modded it then must be something you done while modding it. check everything no matter how stupidly trivial.

Good luck...Let us know how you get on..........
