+ vs - burners and media

Will someone please explain to me the difference between + and - dvd burners and the difference between the + and - media? How can I tell if a burner is + or - before I buy it, and how can I tell if the media is made for + or - burners? Also, is + or - better for backing up ps2 games? Thank you.

There is no real difference between them, theyre just 2 different formats

You can tell if as burner/media is made for a certain format becasue it will say on it DVD-R or DVD+R

There is no Pro's/Con's for either really, but usually:

PS2 V1-4: Plays DVD-R Only
PS2 V5-7: Plays both formats
