Safedisc passed, now what?

Trying to backup new storebought copy of Simcity3000 Unlimited v1.0 (english) before CD gets ruined. Anyone successfully backup this game ever? It has Safedisc v1.40.001 r3 (a1), so used Unsafedisc v1.5 to successfully remove it from the EXE. The problem is using fixed exe stills gives me error because CD-Check, and even with cd in it doesn't see it, starts to load, then "no-cd, insert cd now and click retry". What do I do with the unsafedisc'd exe file to make a backup and what is the point of unsafedisc anyway? Overwrite the original exe and just burn the cd with cloneCD or what? Thinking it wouldn't work less I get it to work on HDD first so no point in making coasters. The readme's in these files aren't very helpful please advise on what to do next before I go crazy trying to figure it out...

Possible to take the fixed.exe made with unsafedisc and remove the cd-check from it? Hex edit? Saw links for cd-check remover but ALL the links are dead! (trying to get sc3ku_no_cd.exe) if anyone has this file let me know I need the BNAAP_CRK.exe file from the archive, i think that would remove the cd check..?

Oh yeah, my CD drive is HP Cd-Writer+ 8000.

i too have a HP CD WRITER 8000+ , for safedisc protected games you can use clonecd to copy the game perfectly, then use the disc to play the game.
go to utilities section of either megagames.com or GCW and download the following :
1. clony version1.07
2. clone cd prog 2842 or 2843 if you dont already have it.
once you got these progs use your writer drive and put the game disc in, click on clony prog and then scan.this will tell you what protection the game has and automatically pass the correct reading and writing parameters to clone cd ! also works with the new safedisc 2 and securom protections etc.....only difference is you need to use a patch for these with the disc you burn.

Hey, just burned two CDs no problem and they work fine.
What I did:
Pass settings from Cloney to CloneCD,
Read to image file, burn to CD.
Media used: Memorex Platinum 4X 650MB CD-RW and also CD-R.

Also found smallest working nocd file (1.1MB), if anyone needs it let me know, or just use unsafedisc 1.5.5 on icd file then I have small (5kb) nocd patch for testme.exe file it creates.
