Backing Up sims

Hi

I am new to all this. I have read the FAQ's but I am still having trouble. I have all the expansion packs of the sims and would like to make back up copies. Ok my burner is a hewlett packard cd writer plus - 7500 series. I am using nero burning program. I have copied my original sims disc onto my hard drive and i have then downloaded the patch and done all that and then i burnt my cd but when i went to put it in to see if it works nothing comes up . Does anyone have any ideas. I have gone through and read every post i can regarding the sims and have so much info in my head at the moment that i am confusing myself :confused: I have downloaded clonyxxl but am not sure how to use it. Any ideas at all would be much appreciated.

Ok now i am reading cd copy instructions and somthing i didn't do when u put the patch in was replace it with the original (do i have to do that) or can i just put the patch in and thats that??mmmm I wonder am i putting the patch in properly

Ok me again :) I have managed to burn a copy and install the game on my harddrive but when i go to play it, it says please place correct cd rom in drive and hit enter. Is there something else i can do

Thanks for your help. Where abouts do i look for a no cd of fixed.exe and the crack u mentioned is that what i put on my cd or was that the patch :confused: . Sorry i don't know where i am going from here. I just tried again to copy it i used clone cd and clonyxxl. It copied ok and loaded the game but i can't play the game it says insert correct cd rom again :confused: . I thought it was possible for me to just copy the disk and it would work (very silly i know) it says on clone cd that my burner isn't compatible but it still did it anyway could this be why it isn't loading up??

Ok now can this help me at all it says that it takes the protection of , does this mean if i use it i can copy it and it will copy out like the original??.

Thanks for that. Ok i will download the crack , but and I know this is a totally stupid question (but i have no clue what i am doing really !!) what do i do with the crack do i put it in my game file that i want to copy and copy the whole thing over again or can i use the file that i copied (will install but not play) and insert the crack into the game folder that i installed, if u know what i mean. :)

Ok so i went and downloaded the sims crack and its on my desktop when i opened it and clicked on the sims.exe it came up with can't find sims data directory. What am i doing wrong?? Can anyone help me.

Thanks for your help i think i worked it out, I put the sims.exe in the sims game folder and clicked on it and it worked. woo hooo. Is this right.
