View Full Version : CD Copy R&A 2 Solution
Hi warriors,
I used CloneCD 2.7.1.1 (i think any version will do..)
Here comes the trick.
At the start of the read/copy process it looks like the cd is hanging.
Don't stop this like i did before thinking it's not gonna work!!
After 10 minutes the process continues and voila the cd or image is ready and working just fine!
Let me know on Forums (no mail!!) if it worked for you ;-)
Greetings, BULL
Hi bull,
could you give some more specific information, for instance, what settings did you use in clonecd. and what cd rom drive did you use to read the cd?
I tried clonecd version 2.7.8.1 and that didn't give a working copy. (6 coasters, all different settings).
I have used clonecd with options created by perfect copy and others and trying some of my own. I have not been able to make a working copy. The only thing that worked was using the instructions from gamecopyworld and using the ra2 patch. Clonecd copies hang up the system.
Hi fellas.
There has been a lot of chat on other Boards about RA2 and the odd effects that Safedisk2 has with CloneCD and other software.
The overwhelming concensus is that not everyone (in fact just a lucky few) can Backup this CD.
To cut a long story short it seems that those with success have only been able to run it from the burner only and not from any CDROM. Nobody is terribly sure why. CloneCD should be released at the end of November and may provide some answers....................
I've been able to backup my copy with CloneCD 2.7.8.1 and a Plextor 8x20 CDR using 1.07 firmware. The CDs play on any cdrom I've used it on.

Hi lore, then could you please give the settings you used in clonecd? I have a plextor124ts. So I think that should do the job to, but please, give the settings you used....

According to Antobo, try this one with Red Alert 2. This works as I've tried it myself. The only drawback is you have to use the cd-writer to play the game.
Use CloneCD
Don't use you'r CD-ROM to read, use the CD-Writer !!! My CD-ROM did not work at all but the CD-Writer did. It's not so fast but my copies works perfectomento even with upgrades of the game. So try it out, CD to imagefile...(from the CD-Writer) and then imagefile to CD.
COPY OPTIONS
READ:
SubChannel data from data track:NO
SubChannel data from audio track:NO
Fast error skip:YES
(!!In Fast Error Skip Settings Dialog, select READ RETRIES **3**
and ERROR CORRECTION **Software**)
Don't report read errors:NO
Intelligent bad sector scanner:NO
WRITE:
Don't reapair subchannel data:YES
Simulate Writing:NO
Burn Proof:NO(I do not have that)
Perform laser power calibration:NO
Wait until buffers are full:YES
Always close last session:YES
The only thing I did was set it to FAST ERROR SKIP. I left everything else the same, and it reads on every player so far (including the burner, of course)
I also tried to copy ra2, with only fast error skip and read error retries set at 3.
And I to can only play when I put the copied disc into the writer. My other cdrom player (plextor40ts) fails.
So tHe question is what's the difference between reading on a writer and reading on a 'normal' cdrom. But probably we'll need to wait until the back-up software (clonecd etc) is updated....
I am using a plex 12/10/32a writer to read and write cds but RA2 is posing a big challenge any setting to set to cdclone would be helpful (cdclone ver 2.7.8.1) and i have updated my firmware to 1.05 from 1.02
