is it possible to read DC game disks on a DVD-r/rw drive. i know that GD-roms are about 1gb in size, so i figure if a DVD-rom can read a 4gb disk, then why can't it read a GD-rom? is the format different or something ? has anybody tried ? i figure if a standard red laser allows you to read 700 mb and a standard dvd blue laser lets you read up to 4gb and GD-rom is somewhere in the middle then what is there to stop you?

is it a copy protection thing i.e. some other color laser and such

the reason that i ask is that while i know that the DC- emu project is still in the works, if they ever were to work then i would have to locate warez - which is a pain in the butt. i would rather just buy the game ( since it is only $9 sometimes ) - than do the whole cable thing or beg people to let me download a copy of sakura tisen 4

i was looking for something Explanatory than " you blow"

so then educate me.
it is a stupid question ? so tell me why. that is kind of the point of posting the question.

It's another format.
Normal CDs or DVDs are read from the inside to the outside. GDroms are read from the outside to the inside. If GDrom were readable on a simple DVD reader, noone would bother with a special cable...

thank you.

you said "on a simple DVD player" - does that mean that there is some other form of media player other than GD-rom that works like that - or does that mean that nothing reads from the outside in. i.e. tough luck

Only DC developpers have GDRom readers / writers.
You won't be able to read a GDRom with something else than a GDRom reader !!!

That's why people hook their DC to their PC to rip games : there's a (guess what !) GDRom reader in your DC ! So they have their DC read the GDRom, and then then retrieve all the files on their PC to work with.

I've seen devkit on sell on Ebay, but it's VERY expensive, and not that usefull.
