I Am having a heck of a time trying to figure this out.. I just got this dvd burner and have started to experience some major problems. I was able to make several back-up dvd games with no problems. Games like Medal of Honor, Gran tourismo, and Star wars. But lately and can't seem to make any type of back-up at all. I'm using the No solder mod chip with AVR2 and GTA3 as the boot DVD. Just so you know I can still play alll backed -up games that have worked from the start. Any game I back-up now doesn't work. The pictures freezes on the last screen before the game would start to load. I tried everything I could think of to resolve this problem. I tried several different burning s/w (Nero, Veritas Prassi PrimoDVD 2.0, and pioneer RecordNow). I am using Windows XP and went to the extent of reformatting the drive and reinstalling XP. One odd thing did happen today. I tried to make a back-up of Ace Combat with a dvd- RW and it worked once only. I tried to play it again and nothing. Once again I tried another back-up that I know worked before and it still does. I'm using Memorex DVD-Rs and Pioneer DVD-RWs. I first started burning the Image to the RW disk to make sure it would work then I would burn it to the DVD-r.
One more note. I never get a write error, It always reports the the disk was burned successfully.
If anyone has any Ideas It would appreciate hearing from you.
Thanxs in advance

I may be wrong, but I thought the PS2 didn't play well with DVD-RW's?

correct most ps2 dont read dvd-rwv5 or newer might read them
i say theres a good chance its media laser problems
try a verbatiom pioneer or traxdata dvdr that i think will solve your problem
also try cleaning your laser cd/dvd cleaner with little brushes on it

good media = good working copies
cheap media = bad non-working copies

Are you in the UK? If you are get yourself some Traxdata DVD-R from www.bigpockets.co.uk or www.121cdr.co.uk for £1.09 each. Otherwise stick with the big-boy branded media.
