View Full Version : Final fantasy X backup
I've backed up FFX and when I'm playing the back up it stops in
a cut scene. I've backed up it twice (diffrerent dvd-r brands) it it gets stuck in the same scene.
I used prassi primo DVD and the method described in psxcopyworld.
The DVD-R boots ok and its playable until I get to that cut-scene and gets stuck.
Can anyone help?
Thanks.

just out of curiosity, what cut scene?
is it one of the first scenes where the main character has just met aaron (? - forget his name) on the bridge and they look over to the left at something? the characters appear to get stuck together and the game stops but music continues.
If yes then I have the same problem.
No, actually its on board of the ship, after performing the Jecht
shot. When Tidus is having some thoughts and the screen is black.
The music continues aswell, but the game stops.

This is a potential case of the White Cog problem - the rails not being parallel with the disk surface and when it gets to a certain point, it can no longer focus.
It might not be that, of course and your model PS2 might not allow the White Cog adjustment.
Anyway there's more on this inside this site: http://charlie.ps2newz.net/main.shtml

phtah - did you manage to resolve your problem???
I sorted mine - after a discussion with dust2dust, I binned my non-working copy and re-tried from a different original. There must have been some kind of read error because the new copy works perfectly.
You could also try using Nero rather than Primo.
Thanks for your help dust & charlie

This is a media problem. I first backed the game using a Verbatim at 2X and I had the exact same problem. So, I bought a TDK and burnt it at 1X and it works sweet! Also Data Safe Gen 3 White Top is also a Top media for PS2 games.

My particular incident was not a media issue as I used Traxdata DVD-R on both occasions.
As I said it is more likely some kind of read error.
