Mega games patches

i get all of my patches from mega games but in the web-site it says that u need a ps2 utillites disk to get the patches to work. if anyone gets there patches from megagames can u tell me if i need that disk.
Or if anyone gets patches from another web site could u send a link to the web-site if u answer my poast.
