i found an alternative CDFS.vxd file from http://www.megagames.com/console/cd/cdfs.zip
i tried this last night (replacing the cdfs.vxd) and yes my pc managed to read the disk but it just showed a single 44k *.cda file and two directories one called mono and one called stero in each of these directories there are three other sub-directories named with different sound frequencies in each of these directories there are *.wav files.
when trying to access any of these files (in a wave editor) it keep gving the error message 'You do not have permission to access this file'
also it might be worth noting that if you ask windows the size of the disk it reports it as 1.99Gb however the total size of the individiual files is over 10Gb accorind to windows.
not a very useful piece of information, but an intresting one never the less.
