View Full Version : Back Ups of PSX Games
I recently bought a mod chip and I've made a succesful copy of Fifa 2002. I only have 1 cd-rom (my burner) on my comp and I have easy cd creator 5. My prblem is that with 2 games my comp wouldn't let me copy all the files to my hard drive for copying and with Tiger Woods Pga Tour Golf I was allowed to copy all of the files and I burnt it and it doesn't work. Anybody with any info??

what cd burner have you got? check www.elby.de to see if it is 100% compatible with the CloneCD software.
then have a look at www.psxcopyworld.co.uk, all the info/software you need is there
Post back if you have any more questions.
I have an LG 24x10x40x I know the burner works fine because Fifa 2002 copied no problem. The psxcopy world site didn't really hlp me at all.

www.psxcopyworld.co.uk contains the correct burning software along with the correct methods to use the software.
Easy CD Creator 5 is crap for copying PSX games. You need to use something like CloneCD (which is why I pointed you to the www.elby.de site to check compatibility) or CDRWin.
I can't see how you can say that www.psxcopyworld.co.uk did not help you. Did you read the tutorials?
See, now that post was helpful. All you had to say was that easy cd creator sucked for making psx copies. Why would it have worked so easily for Fifa 2002 though?
I actually read a whole bunch of them and I knew clone cd and cdrwin were better, but there wasn't much about easy cd creator there.

Easy CD creator is picky so it only works with curtain games use cloneCD it can even read damaged CD`s like my tony hawks prosk8ter 3 that had skipp y music now the backup plays awsome
I just order my cdrwin today so it'll be a couple of days then I'll know. I'll keep you posted though
psxcopyworld.com.uk says the bandwidth is exceeded, what does that mean and when wil I be able to access the site again?
Can somebody please give me the instructions on making back ups usind cdrwin beacuse that site isn't working properly. Thanks.

Taken from the megagames site
First make a CD-Image using CDRWIN (using the RAW-Option):
Start CDRWIN.
In the CDRWIN - CDROM Recording Tools window click Extract Disc/Tracks/Sectors to Image File.
Enter the Image Filename: <Filename.BIN>
- for example: C:\TEMP\IMAGE.BIN
Leave all other settings Default - make sure the RAW option is selected!
When ready click START to create the CD-Image file on harddisk.
This will create the CD-Image file (C:\TEMP\IMAGE.BIN) and the CD-Image Cuesheet (C:\TEMP\IMAGE.CUE).
Burn the CD-Image onto a CD-R:
In the CDRWIN - CDROM Recording Tools window click Record.
Click Load Cuesheet and select the CD-Image Cuesheet (C:\TEMP\IMAGE.CUE).
Click Start Recording.

I thought I would try to post a helpful answer as apposed to an unhelpful answer.
I keep getting an error message saying un able to read data 0 to 26 on device 1:0:0 Illegal command request (04h 00h 02h 05h 64h 00h) what the heck does that mean?

Is your Disc scratched?
I tried with two different discs and it said the same thing on both. Both of these games work perfectly.
I had the same problem..When I tried to back up my originals it would not read any further..Are you by chance using a cracked copy of CDrwin? Because it does this sometimes once in a while..
What I do is Delete the CDrwin and then shut the PC down, unplug the all the drives except for HD of course and reload the CDRwin and then shut the PC down and replug the drives back on and PC back on..After that I won't have problem ever again for the CDRwin..That's me..I read this somewhere on the Net and it works for me yr after yr using this method..Unless yours is a diffrerent problem..perhaps Setting problem? But PSX Paul replied earlier on how to setup the Cdrwin..Normally you do not have to touch any set ups once you installed the CDRwin..Just insert the CD in the drive read the image and then burn..You shouldn't have to touch any of the settings at all..
Try my method..It might work..Who knows..
Not in my case..It would NOT Read. Burning wasn't the issue but reading it would stop after some point in the way..
Who knows..Everybody has a different methods of doing stuff right? Just because my method works for me doesn't neccessary work for someone else but worth the shot over making anymore coasters..Trying anything once is worth it sometimes..
I don't want to make a assumption nor should you or anybody for that matter..;)

use your CD-burner as the reader it reads way better than crappy cdrom drives

That's old news for me..I knew about this way back in middle of 96 when I got my first 2x scsi burner for massive amount of $$$$..Anyway Odds are if it acts up with the Cd-rom drive it's gonna be same with CD-R drive as well..I mean sure, your CDR drive better chance but unlikely..While back I made a backup copy 1:1 of PC engine Dracula X using the CDr drive because my Plextor Cdrom would not read so I used my plextor CDr drive to read it.

bsfan:
Your drive may be having trouble with the subhchannel settings. I had trouble with my DVD-ROM as a reader at first, and had to use "fixed" option. (I'm impatient, and hate to have to swap discs midstream). Success was sketchy, because it forces a pregap on each track. After a firmware upgrade, it started working with default settings.
I hate to harp on you, but you should've gone with CloneCD free trial first, then used the free "trial" of CDRWIN for awhile before buying either of them. CloneCD has worked better than 90% of the time on PSX games, and 100% of the time on PS2 Games. CDRWin has only been used when Clone ver. 3 failed because I had monkeyed up the settings, otherwise it may not have failed.
Check the CloneCD site for compatability with your drive. If it will do RAW-DAO-96, I suggest you get CloneCD for primary use.
http://elby.ch/english/products/clone_cd/writers/a.html
For some drives (LG, Hi-Val, etc.) you will need the model information from the CD-Drive properties in device manager (they are listed by manufacturer--Mitsumi, Hitachi, etc.).
Raist.
2 things: first thing is I'm using my burner as a redaer because that all I have and second I went to that site and I am compatible with clone cd.
what's better SCSI bus disc transporter or Serial port disc transporter? I have no supported device for SCSI. Could this be my problem?
Another thing: Every time I shut down my cdrwin, cdrwin causes an error and shuts down cdrwin.

Do you still have other cd burning software on your PC? If so, uninstall all of them, and just reinstall the one you want to use. I have found having several CD burning programs installed on my Win98 PC, causes problems.
How long should it take to read the image file on Clone Cd if it's going at 1x speed???
