I think I might need a little help if you don't mind. I made the first
backup of San Francisco Rush just fine. But then I tried to update my Aspi
layer to try and get CDRWIN to work with my new burner (it still doesn't but
that's ok). Well I then tried to make some more backups and they didn't
work at all. I then did the aspi check and saw that there was an error. So
I found another update (for win95) and did that one, then I did the aspi
check and it said everything was ok.
But I still am having trouble burning. I deleted the old rips that I had
done when the aspi was messed up and did new ones. The only one I have
tried to burn so far is Tomb Raider I, which is supposed to have no
protection, unlike II, III, and so on. (But it does have a demo of II on it
so maybe this I was made after the release of II??) Now it has two demos on
it that work fine, but when I choose the actual game, I have to wait 60
seconds for the screen to come up that asks if I want a new game or load a
saved game. But after I choose nothing happens, no matter how long I wait.
The disc spins for a few seconds then stops for one second and starts
spinning again. It keeps doing this as long as you let it go. I even tried
turning it upside down like some say do, but then nothing at all happens.
I have tried it on 2 discs (Imation and Verbatim) and both do the same
thing. The only thing I can think of is that the aspi update isn't ok even
though it says it is. The aspi check is for Win95 and so was the update,
but I'm running Win98. I guess I can try the newer update again that I got
at Adaptec that aspi check gave an error to, but then where would I find
aspicheck for Win98 to make sure it was ok and just not saying it wasn't
because it's originally for Win95? I wish I could figure out how to install
the originals I had in. Since I can't get CDRWIN to work anyway and CloneCD
did just fine on them.
OR ....
I am not sure what to check in CloneCD. On the istructions I found it says
to uncheck 'Wait until buffers are full' but it doesn't have that option,
but it does have 'buffer underrun protection' and I leave that checked. And
also I leave 'Amplify weak sectors' checked which there is no mention of in
the instructions either. Maybe one or both of these is wrong? But I am
pretty sure they were checked when I made the first successful backup of San
Francisco Rush.
