audio cd's on sony dvd .........problem

Got a new Sony DAV S300 DVD player - plays proper music cd's but won't recognise downloded music off of napster etc which are recorded onto cdr's (kodak, infiniti etc) Writer is a scci Yamaha, discs work perfect on home hifi and car etc but wont on dvd please help.
Dvd is not multi-regional.

I have a friend who works for Sony customer support. He says that it is a common problem. Sony do not plan to fix it for some reason. Even Sony brand CD-R do not work with it. Looks like you are just gonna have to buy the originals :) or another cd player.
