I got Syphon filter3 here, a backup....i tried booting it via Dvd region x like i do with ps2 backups...it loaded then it came back to the browser screen, i picked playstation disc, i thought it would load but just a black screen, how do i boot my psx backsups?
If it's a PSX backup then it should load without the use of a boot disc.

weird, i tried that but it keeps saying :
please insert a playstation[2] disc!
Warlock is right, it should work straight away
don't know if this is the case but the neo2.2 won't let you play backups of psx1 games from a different region to that of your machine
therfore
if u have a usa syphon 3 and pal machine it won't work
but if u have pal syphon 3 and pal machine it's fine
If this is the case there is an easy way round it by re-burning it and changing the region using any of a number of programs on gamecopyworld.com
the programs to use are the same ones used to play imports on the psone.
if this isn't the case then no idea m8

Pal machine and i believe pal syphon3 backup....
how can i reburn the game? cause i don't have the game on my hd anymore ....it's quite long ago since i burned this game....
well if it is the pal game then the only thing i can think of is that it's a bad burn, try borrowing it off some1 and copy it using clone cd.

No no, definetely not a bad burn....back in the days when i used Action replay2 cd's for booting the game just booted and nothing was wrong....i tried alot of psx backups...they just don;t boot right away....so that's not gonna work.
are u sure that u definatly have the neo2? is it a 2.2 or just 2?

oh damn, i don't know that for sure...could be 2.2 too...i didn;t built it in..someone else did....never knew about different neo2's
what booting method do u use to play normal ps2 and dvdr backups?
There are a couple of rouge chips named neo 2.1 etc.

well i use the dvd region x for booting like this
insert dvd regionx, wait for the disc stop loading {the little buzzing sound} eject, change cd with ps2 backup...close tray....and then start....
the neo chips require that you have to hold the start button down until u need the drive to open.
if u'r not doing this then i really don't know what chip you are using as i've only dealt with neo2.2/no solder and DO I REALLY NEED TO NAME IT!
Any1else got ideas?

nope, i never had to hold start at all..just like i t told ya :)
After picking my brain i think i know which chip you have,
it could be a chip called the starchip. it's similar to the neo but no holdingpower 4 bkup.
I did one a long long time ago but try this
put syphon3 in and then power down. when you turn on the ps2 hold down ur reset button until (Hopefully it turns blue) then release it and the ps1 should bkup. i can't remember if u said anyother ps1 bkups worked but try this

hmm,, that's kinda weird..cause when it's turned on and you just tip the reset button it jumps to blue right away....so i gotta be really FAST? :)
put your backup in and switch your machine off.
when you turn it on hold down your power button and it will turn blue (This should take no more than 1 second) when it does let go and your backup should boot straight away
no need for the action replay/dvd region x or whatever disc you use for ur ps2 games
if this is the starchip then that will work
let me know

damn, nothing...the blue screen with all the boxes appears and that little intro sound...and then it switches to the screen where you can go to browser or system config etc.....it doesn't boot at all...
last idea, try tapping the power button to turn it on (With ur backup already in)
or
try what it states on this link

Hmmm...however...i followed that psx backup thing on that link...the PSX backup did boot only nothing showed up...maybe the syphon3 backup is'nt right or something like that...ima try out other psx backups i got....what i did
eject, put psx backup in it...pressed reset for like 1 second for it to jump on standby mode {red light} and then i hold reset until the screen came up where i can pick browser and other stuff...i let go....i don't know if that's good...i heard a psx backup screen was supposed to show up...anyway the tray closed automaticly...i waited and it did boot but i got an black screen without anything.....i'm not getting the psx backup screen i'm supposed to get according to that link you gave me.
