I've got the same problem trying to copy NWN with that exact same liteon. I've tried using the settings for Securom *new* but they didn't work. I also have the latest version of clonecd. (clonecd4 I believe). Would the blindwrite suite work better? If so what settings should be used for blindwrite? I haven't used anything but clonecd for a long time. Thanks in advance :D .

Do you think I'd have more luck with a plextor? I was under the impression a liteon could copy anything a plextor could, just not as fast.

VLuka, have you heard from anyone who has actually been able to back up the 3rd CD in such a way (with the newest CloneCD or anything else) that it will pass the game's Securom copy protection test?

I used an older version of CloneCD with a Ricoh burner, and the only way for it to work was to use Securom emualtion in Daemon Tools (which is blacklisted, so I'd have to use something else if I don't want to use either a crack or the original CD)

So far this seems to be the best anyone else can do as well.

You guys who backed up the cds, what settings did you use?

I used the settings from ClonyXXL. I set it to securom *new* and it didn't work. After that I tried lots of other combinations of settings, all with the same effect. I'm going to try the blindwrite suite tonight. I'll post & let you know if I have any luck with that.

no luck with blindwrite either. :(
If someone has actually made a working copy of this I'd love to know how. A friend of mine tried doing it with his plextor and he couldn't get it working either. He used clone cd. Is the protection on this cd definately securom? Could it be something new that nobody knows about yet? I've never failed to copy a cd until now.

I copied the 3rd (Play) CD on my second try. The big difference was the speed that I read the original at.

I used Clone 4.0.1.6 with the Securom profile. I read the original in my burner at 8x speed into an image file. I've found (at least for me) the burn speed does not matter, my current copy I burned at 32x onto a 32x TDK 80 minute CD. Also burned one on a Maxwell CD-RW without problems. I'm using a LiteOn 32x burner with XS0U firmware.

The CD works fine so far, I've tested it in a LiteOn CD-ROM (48x, not sure of model/firmware etc) and a friends DVD-ROM. Works everytime. In a burner you do need the Hide CDR Media for it to work.

Hi, im a complete newb when it comes to copying. So could you please state the settings you had in clonecd to burn the 3rd cd? also is the first 2 simple like straight forward copying?

I've tried reading at a slower speed but it didn't make a difference. I went as slow as 4x on the read with no real effect. I'll try updating my firmware and then using 1x to see.

well I updated my firmware to the latest version (5s5a). And tried burning it using the secureom *new* profile in clonyxxl and with the read speeds of both audio and data at 1x. Still no luck.

BUt making the 1 for 1 is a no go for me at this time. im like everyone else here if you did get it to work post the settings you used iv used clony settings iv tried random settings nothing worked for me SO i hope there is a person that can help here.

Ok here is what I done...

I *did not* use Clony since it couldn't identify the protection when I put the disc in.

I used CloneCD version 4.0.1.6, earlier versions reportedly had an issue with Securom and LiteOn drives. I started it up and selected to read into an image file. I put the original CD in my burner (A LiteOn LTR-32123S with XS0U firmware, secondary slave if it matters) and told CCD to read from it. Profile screen...I made a copy of the default Securom and edited it. The *only* thing I changed was set the Read Speed to 8x. Image Location...doesn't matter I suppose. After it was finished I popped a TDK 32x 80 minute CD in my burner and selected to write the image...Selected the same copy of the Securom profile (it was already selected actually) and burned the cd. The first cd I done at 8x and it worked so I done another at 32x (it worked). Since then I have also CCD'd my copy and that copy (2nd generation) works fine also.

Uhh...I'm not really sure what else I can tell ya guys.

So your saying you made 1:1 copies of the installation cds or the play disc?

Wylfman
24-06-2002, 22:07
Er...all 3 actually. The install cd's aren't protected. What I described above is how I made a 1:1 copy of the Play Disc.

maybe the 32x liteon is better then the 24x in some way other then speed? The only difference between what I did wylfman did is the burner itself. I have the same version of clone cd. I used the same settings. And I read the cd at 8x, 4x, and 1x. None of the copies I've made have worked. The only difference I can see is the burner.

Wylfman, are you playing the copied cd's in a burner or a regular cd-rom? I just read another post where someone copied a recent game that had securom *new* and the copies worked fine on a cd-rom but not on a burner. Even when he had "hide cdr media" checked.I don't have a regular cd-rom to test on. Could the problem be that they found a way around "hide cd-r media"?

I got the Play disc to burn just fine with CloneCD. I used 8x speed and copied the image of the original disc. Now when I go to play the game it will not start with my copy. I use the original and it starts just fine. Anyone else getting this problem? Thanks

h0p
25-06-2002, 12:57
this is the problem this whole thread is about megaboot. Apparently this is a problem localized to liteons (only a few) and clone cd. Someone else who was having the same problem successfully created a copy using cd-mate. I'm downloading it right now and will post if it works. Thanks to DaPunk for posting that thread. Cleared up a lot of things. Olli released a patch for clone cd to fix the bug but it didn't work. Hopefully it gets fixed when the new version comes out.

cd-mate worked first try! :D . You can get it at www.cd-mate.com . just click easy duplicator and check all the boxes except simulate and it should work for you. Perfect 1:1 copy.
Thanks to all who posted here :D .

Thanks h0p for that clarification. I wasn't sure if this was the problem people were having or what. Sounded like they were not able to burn the CD at all. I will try that CD-Mate and see if it works. Thanks again.

I tried that CD-Mate, I got the CD burned but when I put it back into my drive it just sits there trying to read the CD. It won't let me access my cd rom drive while the burned CD is in. It is like I burned a format that my computer cannot reconize. If anyone is having this problem let me know.

make sure after you burn it if you are going to run it from a burner, have clone cd running with the "hide cd-r media" option checked.

It works before update to NWNv1.22....

Looks like they change something again....
