I'm a DC owner at the moment, but i'm seriously looking at getting a PS2 soon. Found what seems a decent deal - UK PS2 with Neo 2.2 fitted+RegionX for £315. Just wondering if anybody thinks I'd be better off waiting for the NEO4 before shelling out - what are the actual benefits over the NEO 2.2?
Hi,
I once was a DC owner, we still am but never use it (only bought it for Virtual Tennis and MSR) anyway the spec you have posted is the exact system i have and its great. If you dont mind using a boot cd first before booting a backup then go for it. There is still no def date for the new NEO 4 mod and to be honest im in no hurry to upgrade from my NEO2.2 chip, im used to using a boot cd for the old DC backups.
The price you have been quoted seems very good, at the end of the day its your final call. Also the REGION X is the quickest boot cd on the market todate and the multi region function works really well, so well in fact i sold my DVD player and now just use my PS2 for DVD playback.
Goodluck
Also check out www.playstationmods.com and www.kanection.co.uk for some moew info on chipped ps2s.

Yes - take Dal's advice. It's a quickstart to the world of using backup games. Before you buy, get the seller to show you a backup game running on the PS2 and using the Region X boot method (the disk you're buying).
That's the start. Then you'll enter the world of making PS2 backups. If you need my get you going text, just reply to this post.
Hi,
When your ready to start backing up your ps2 games, drop Charlie a line, he has a very good starters tutorial which will explain all the issues when making a successfull backup which range from what writer softare to use to finding a patch for your backup.
