View Full Version : Why doesn't Nero and EasyCD extract until the end ?

I always wondered why these two softs were unable to perform correctly an audio extraction.
The track 1 of a CD of mine is 1 795 164 samples long, that is 3 053 Frames of 588 samples. Its the same with EAC (burst mode), Winamp (CD Reader/discWriter plugin), and Windac.
The pregap of track 2 is 0.48 seconds, that is about 21 168 samples. There are 28 990 null samples at the end (0.66 s).
EasyCD 3.5b French extracted 1 766 352, that is 3 004 frames. 28 812 samples are missing!
Nero 4.0.5.6 French extracted 1 794 576 samples, that is 3 052 frames. 588 samples (1 frame) are missing. (Kill zero samples unchecked, of course).
All the extracted waves begin exactly at the same sample (looking at the waveform), the missing samples are at the end. The following track begin also at the same sample whichever soft rips it.
Easy CD lacks 0.5 seconds between the tracks! It does it wether its silence or music (chained tracks), more or less according to the CD, from 0 s to 1 s! The same with Artec, Hitachi, Teac and Plextor drives, on two different computers. Wether there are pre track gaps or not.

WinOnCD and CDRWin are all right.

I can't perfectly copy an audio CD with EasyCD creator!
Is this a known bug?

Anyone knows if EasyCD 4 keeps doing that?

Knowing Easy Coaster Creator i would say its a bug, that thing has bugs on bugs. Not sure why Nero does it though

As you've said in your post WinonCD and CDRwin work fine, i'd stick with those if i were you and don't bother with easy CD

Thanks for the reply!
But Easy CD 4 is fine! (it was 3.5 which was bugged). As WinOnCD doesn't support SAO and CDRWin messes up the tracks I load, I use now EasyCD4!
