Hello all. This is my first time here, so excuse me if I do anything wrong.

My DVD reader (Technics) can't read Recordable music CD's. Do we have any "burner" that can make my DVD play this kind of CD? It always says "No CD" or "No PLAY".

Thanks.

I have the same problem with my Plextor 8/20 CDR. I use Nero, but have used others like; Plextors apps, Adaptec soundstream, and easycopy deluxe. I think it might that my writer dose'nt support cd-text. If you find out why let me know.

Thanks

Ben

Hi!
DVD drive, especially home DVDs, are often unable to read CDRs, because of the laser used. This is not the case with recent DVD drives for PC. A "multiread" drive (its written on it) should read anything.
You will find here a list of Home DVD drive, with the kind of CD they can read :

Most of the time, DVD unable to read CDRs can read CD-RW fine.

Does this mean I have to replace my Plextor 8/20 CDR w a CDRW drive? or can I buy CDRW media and copy audios on them?

According to numbers (8/20), your drive should not be able to burn CD RW (it would have three numbers).
It would be wiser to change the DVD drive, because CD RWs would not be read on home CD players!
But before doing that, try CDRs from Mitsui (also available as HewlettPackard), or if you can't find some, Kodack Gold, or Ricoh. Being made with Phtalocyanine, maybe they can be read by you DVD drive.
Try also to write at 1x speed.
Make sure also, that your burned CDs can be read in ANY other drive : hifi player, car player, and discman, and that it is the DVD that is guilty!
CDRs are often difficult to read.
