I have a AMD-Athlon 600Mhz System with a ASUS K7V Mobo, 2 Seagate Hdd in Primary Master & slave combination and Plextor 24x writer + Asus 50X CDrom drive in Secondary master/slave combination, Via4in1 4.35 drivers, Geforce 2 DDR card (21.81 Detonator Drivers, SBlive sound card .... etc
My Cdwriter is not Being detected by Nero/adaptec ... When I first install Nero it gets Detected for the 1st time and then after restarting Nero the 2nd time it starts saying "This version of Nero supports Only Creative recorders" The writer works perfectly in other systems ...
I tried updating the ASPI drivers as well by using FORCEASPI but still no solution ... My old YAMAHA CD-Writer also has the same problem ... I tried changing OS's as well...(win98,win2k and winXP) but no solution...
I tried installing the new UltraDMA 66 VIA Drivers as well... didnt work ...
I would be very much greatfull if someone would come up with a solution for this...

as you've probably realised by now it doesn't have anything to do with your system- it's the nero software: your new burner isn't supported yet by nero, so you'll just have to wait for a new version to support it (one of the main drawbacks to buying the newest and the fastest!). I have the same prob with new Yamaha lightspeed2 20-10-40....

Nero and Clone CD both support the Plextor 24x10x40, it works great, the problem is you probally did the bad thing and installed EZCD ( BTW v5 has iisue with Win2k and XP, if you must use EZCD Use ver 5.02 ) which does not play well with Nero, CDRWin and Clone CD, deinstall and reinstall Nero ect.. all will be will fine, YES you have to use ForceAspi under Win2k / XP as Nero works perfect under both and supports the A03 DVD-R burner as well. If your Nero supports only Creative Labs drives then do not use that version of Nero, but d/l directly from Nero ( www.ahead.de ) and install that. Current version is 5.5.6.4 and I have been using it as far back as 4.4.X.X with my SCSI Plextor 8x and My Yamaha SCSI 4x drives with no issues. Also do not use Plextools, it's ok software why why burden you system with those tools when there are better alternatives.
