both are excellent drives, you cant really go wrong with either one but i would lean toward the plextor.
And I would lean toward Yamaha

I've recently bought a Plex 24/10/40 ...it's really great! I've been able to backup games that I wasn't able before, 'cause of the correct EFM encoding (needed for safedisc2), and I haven't seen on CloneCD home page that Yamaha has NOT that capability; furthermore, Plextor has 2 years warranty (available in Europe), that's a thing that can good...a negative thing is that (for example) with LaserLock protected CDs it takes a very long time to read the image, but you cwill have perfect backups and if you have a pioneer or toshiba dvd reader, you can overpass this "little" problem. So, I would suggest for the Plextor.
