I honestly have no idea,i got someone else to install it for me. All I do know (and thats very little) is that my PS2 is a type R or something, and the chip is an internal thing.... thats all I know....
you most likely got a neo 2.x then.
it will not play original imports at all.

If you have a PAL PS2, then a Messiah chip is perfct for the R. Scond and very credible choice is Origachip.
Both will play import originals direct boot.
Any more info required - ask. And my personal advice is not to use an installer who won't tell you what modchip you've got and what it's capabilities are.
Indeed if it's a NEO2.2 you urgently need to open it up and see if this 8 wire mod has a capacitor at pin 2 - otherwise you are in danger of ruining you PS2.

I have a question, Why does Neo2.2 Ruin the PSX2?
I'm curious..Iwould think that Neo4 would ruin the machine faster than Neo2.2..
thanks ahead of time!
Also aren't you the same one from Z's site? Heh..Heh..
@Charlie: The Origa doesn't play imports direct-boot on PAL machines, only on jpn and US ones.
@A03: The neo 2 constantly pulses a signal into the system, which eventually starts harming the laser diode by 'hitting' it with too much voltage.

Answer from Charlie: The neo 2 constantly pulses a signal into the system, which eventually starts harming the laser diode by 'hitting' it with too much voltage.(5v instead of 3.3v)
The NEO4 doesn't pulse at 5v. Apart from that NEO4 is a totally crap chip for its 44 wires an the few things it can do simply.
thanks ahead of time!

Answer from Charlie: Yep.
