Well I flashed the firmware for my acer1208a to the most recent firmware update listed on the following site: ####://perso.club-internet.fr/farzeno/firmware/ There are still other questions that I have to ask...

1) Is this drive overburn capable and if so can it handle 90min or 99minute cdr's?
2) Is there any information on the net appertaining to the purpose, bug fixes, and or enhancements of firmware version updates 9.gb and 9.jb, if so where is it?

I must admit that I have more successful burns at 12x and less buffer underrun errors with this new firmware update. (buffer underrun---seamless link???) Plus it isn't quite as picky about the cd-media I use. This is a plus, but, what about 90 or 99minute cdr's???

Concerning 90 and 99 min cds :
At the momment only 2 drives are recorded as being able to write 99 min cd (mitsumi cr-4804te, and some yamaha model). 90 min cds are not so much of a problem.
If you want to test how far your drive can go buy an 700meg cdrw disc and try *.zip files of 705 then 710 715 etc in nero with the overburn feature enabled. the good thing about the giant zip file is that if its not 100% complete it wont open and your know the o/b was a failure.
so far i have managed to o/b a 700mb cdr to 725mb, which is not a huge difference but sometimes useful...
