Hi EnzoCid from Brazil,

You mean when you try and burn a disc you get errors?

There is a common problem with the Philips 2600 AND the similar 3610 (IDE) - they both fail after a certain time. The 2600 has faulty mechanics (a spring I beleive - perhaps others would like to give some more info) and the 3610 uses lubricating grease that dries up due to heat (especially when burning 80 min discs).

You say your writer was working before? The first thing I'd do is clean the laser lens, as sometimes a bit of dust/dirt can get lodged inside the (rather hot) mechanism.

I got most of my help from this forum:

####://forums.delphi.com/n/main.asp?webtag=cldavid&nav=messages&msg=69

(There appears to be a problem with some of the text entered into this forum - in the above link, the first 4 letters should be h (for hello), t (for tidy), t (for tidy), p (for pencil). Perhaps someone's been hacking this forum or linking to web pages isn't allowed..

I can only suggest it's the spring problem AND/OR the grease problem. I tried to fix my 3610, but to be honest the time and effort I spent on the thing would have been better spent on getting a faster and more reliable writer. Who's to say the same problem won't happen again? And at 2x record speed, 38mins to write a disc is a long time to wait these days for a result!

All the best m8. :-)

Dear Wayniac :
No , I mean that when I put in a blank cd, it he does not recognize it, like if he did not have no disk inside . And when I go to burn a cd, it orders to insert a blank cd , but the cd already is in !!!!

Grateful
Enzo!
