sup all,
I'm new to this room but not new to cd burning. :)

However, there is news about a new audio protection that simply shocked me! This is expected to come out in about a year or so. They really seem to attack on Plextor writers now too. This protection is codenamed: "BlazeProof" Here's what it does.........

When you insert the cd into any drive, it wont pick it up. Just blinking unless you install custom ATAPI drivers that are already in devolopment. Even when you stop this, when you attempt to image with major buning software (cdrwin, clonecd, blindwrite, etc.) It will commence properly but will lead to a crashed blank desktop. This seems kind of weird. Oh yeah, it is possible to make good image after a bunch of steps, but will damage your burner after several burns of that bypassed image.

Could this be the end of multi copying audio cd's?
Post your comment here.

Of course it's not the end. It will never end. What is made by man can be defeated by man. As far as damaging ur burner - bring on the lawsuits.

sounds just like a software based dongle.

If this system really was produced (and what music publisher wants to have to bundle new pc drivers with their music??) and implemented, it wouldn't take very long for someone to crack the respective drivers/dll/apps so that a copy could be produced.

I'll reserve full judgement until the day it is released, but I don't think it will last long.

have you heard about the one that flashes *music pirate* on your screen and proceeds to flash your motherboards bios, leaving your machine inoperable? you dont even have to try and copy it, its that evil. its called 'the riaa f***'s with consumers again' protection.......a personal favorite of mine.

p.s. that was sarcasm earlier ;) maybe irony? whatever it was, i thought the other thing was bs, as philips will probably never allow something like that to be sold as a cd, since its against the orange book or whatever ****ing color it is.

in all honesty, i'd be pretty impressed if they could even do that. the flashing bios thing is pretty protected ;)
