How long should it take. It seems like it is taking me an awful long time to burn a simple game with safedisc 1.
when i burnt tiberian sun with safedisk it took about 25mins all up
read:40
Write:16

Writing will be as fast as usual. Reading will be slower than normal cd's due to the protection. How slow depends on what drive you use to read.

i was talking only about the writing....
well m8 that depends on the speed of your writer :)
1x = 150 KB/s
So let's say you've a 16x burner. A 700 MB cd would take you about: 700 x 1024 / 16 x 150 / 60 = 5 minutes

well,i burn with 8x speed and it takes about 10 mins...
It was between 20-25 all together not just burning

I have an asus 52x cd-rom. I have a plex 24/10/40a. I burnt Maxt Payne with safedisc 2 and it took an hour and a half. I burnt the Sims and it took as long with only safedisc 1. I burnt an old game with nothing and it took 3 minutes. An hour and a half seems like a long time. Is it and if so don't just tell me, tell me how to fix it. Thanks guys

I have burner and cd-rom drive on same ide channel. I think that could be the problem. Would my harddrive be slowed down if I put it on the samw channel as the burner?

first of all, what makes the procedure last for so long is the reading not the writing part.......

The reading took 16 minutes after I put the burner and cd-rom on seperate ide channels. The writing took 49 minutes. These are the times for me to copy the Sims Hot Date with safedisc 2. For the read it says calculating optimum power or something like that. The buffers fill up then deplete. Then it says writing image session 1. It takes awhile for it to get to 4%, then it stays there forever, then it quickly finishes. I would really like to know if anybody has had this same problem or if this is normal.
i think the the reason for the long start has to do with it and safedisk 2

I think it all has to do with your reader & burner. I believe some say their burner would actually be a better reader than their other CD-ROM on the same computer as reader. I believe that's the case for me when I was doing SeriousSam2. Took me up to an whole hr to read with my Kenwood 72TrueX and came out with a messed up image. Then it only took under 20 min's to read with my burner Lite-On 40125S :D
Of course, this was on the same setting to read "4x" with some fast error skip settings. Delay is also added when you can't read/burn as fast due to making a readable copy :)

this is probably happening because the procedure stack some way and when it unstacked it was done...so that's i think the explanation

what do you mean the procedure stacked? How do I fix this?

it stacks...you know, moving the mouse but nothing happens and if you start hitting the butons the central is screaming....can't fix it it just happens sometimes...

I don't do shit when burning i just leave my cpu alone. i also shutdown windows messanger and my screensaver. The only task running is clone cd. Did I buy crappy hardware? or am i just having a software issue??????

check your system resources during a burn, see whats tied up.

i wasn't saying that you hardware version or type is crappy is was saying that your hardware may have a fault or something.....
