View Full Version : MESSIAH CHIPPED PS2 wont play DVD's with REGION X

I just Recently had my PAL SCPH "30003" PS2 MESSIAH chipped. However i can't play any Region 1's DVD's etc, with DVD Region X. I can only play Region 2's through the normal boot method.

Is there any way to solve this problem?

Which version DVDRX (open SYSTEM or SYSTEM.CNF with Notepad.exe and the version no is displayed).

Also which version PS2 is this(v5, v4?)

Hi Charlie.

The Version Number for DVDRX is V1.30

PS2 Is a Version 4

I tried v1.30 yesterday in a v4 and it didn't work (DVD driver 2.10E). I believe v1.9 works - but I took it back to HMV a couple of weeks ago because that doesn't work in the v5. DVDRX 2 works with DVD Driver 2.10E.

It'll be released free on the April issue of PSi-2 magazine (so reserve from your newsagent). Well I don't actually know that it will be DVDRX v2 but its's a full working version and free. Maybe it's 1.9. There would be little point though giveing away something that won't work with all the PS2s released since Christmas.

No - but HMV take the goods back if it don't work on v5!

have you tried upgrading the Region X driver?

I have a pre-M-chipped PS2 (30003R), and using Region X for region 1 discs no problems. have you also tried double reset booting to Region X disc? M-chipped PS2 won't detect DVD video discs & PSX games (original and otherwise) if not double reset.

There is no update for the 2.10E drivers on the site. That's what the DVDRX / v2 does!

Actually 2.10E means EURO Remote. I've done the upgrade and it works just fine.

Finally i got it working, i had 2 use the double reset 2 boot the DVD Region x, which i didn't "NO" bf, also i had 2 upgrade the Region X driver.
