Recently I heard people complaining about this PX writer and SD 2.51. What I 've used is Clone 3.3.4.1 , clonyXXl latest version, betablocker 1.01 and, of course this amazing cd writer.
Insert Medal of Honour in the PX24/10/40a and start clonyXXL. It will detect the SD2 protection. Then click on the right where it says "bad sectors". Then click on "scan". When it finishes (after 5 read errors), click on "terminate". Now clonyXXL says about "...Sektoren" as the protection(I don't know German). Then, launch clonecd from the clonyXXL button and minimize clonyXXL. At clonecd the read image settings are(put a tick for those): speed = max, fast error skip, fast error skip settings: software, retries = 0, intelligent bad sector scanner. Now it will read the image. After that, run Betablocker and from explorer drag 'n drop the .img file into the Betablocker's GUI and click on "search". Then click on "fix". Now go back to clonecd to write the image. The settings now are (tick): speed 4x, rawdao, enable burn-proof, amplify weak sectors, don't repair, always close last session. That's it - the cd that you make is playlable, plus it works on any cd reader. You don't even need a crack for the .exe of the game - the copied cd will work in place or the original! Tell me if it worked with any other writers apart from mine. Btw, my firmware of the PX is 1.02...

enjoy

Your plex is still not making 1;1 copies! and look at the time it takes you to make it.
We all know how to use betablocker and the game fixes.
KC......

PS:
using the lite-on makes perfect 1:1 copies every time!!

My PX is the best 24 writer up-to-date whether you like it or not. Actually I 'm willing to pay more is something is entitled to be or greater quality and from "a field expert" manufacturer. Writers from liteon and other cheap brands are crap to me. So don't go around forums trying to piss off people with kids stuff like " My writer is the best - yours sucks ". This is not the purpose of forums - you just taking up space. Also, its ok if you know how to use betablocker and other stuff. I know very well how to use them myself. But I assume that many people in this forum don't know how to use them - and that 's not shame. There is always the first time. This is also the reason why I wrote "a whole page" - simply because I wanted even novice users to be able to read what I wrote. Btw, try comparing the original cd of MOH with a copy of it made by px 24/10/40a (using my settings). The protection is in the copied cd as well. NO CDWRITER IN THE WORLD IS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING A PERFECT COPY OF A SD251 PROTECTION (and as you might have guessed not even a liteon:))
You can read this for more info: http://www.cdmediaworld.com/hardware/cdrom/news/0102/sd2_truth.shtml

Your wrong!
The lite - on 12x, 24x, and the 32x are doing it
Go here for more info and read all the posts on this forum for the truth!

Yes your copies look like the real cd but look at the time it takes to do it! That is what beta-blocker is setup to do.
When we talk about a real 1:1 copy we mean copying from reader to writer, the plex writers are not doing this. Some have said they have but the plex's I tested would not..
As far as putting you down, I don’t even know you and this is not what I am!
This writer forum is talking about REAL 1:1 copies otherwise you should be in the copy write and protection forum. I am truly glad you have a good backup

Have a wonderful Day
KC........:)

Im sorry I thought I was in thr cd/dvd writer forum, my mistake and please hold no ill will? Maybe this will help you anyway. And again to you sir Im sorry:confused:

just qualifying.......if we consider ATIP check there is NO writer to perfect duplicate an original cd....firmware update and maybe cloneCd update will make plextor to make "perfect" one to one copy....One more thing.. tried Codename outbreak with my plex 24x (it's supossed to be copy-protected with Star force...means...impossible to replicate )and i have a running backup from this game burned with my plextor and a great lucky.
If liteon can do this.....please let me know...( this is not a plextor defense) ahmmmm one more thing and i finish............plextor can burn into 99 min cdr till 96 min....liteon to 94 if i well remember....please for more info visit www.cdfreaks.com and look for liteon and plextor reviews...

Good luck and judge with justice and first read before posting!....xD

so raw guy, if something cheaper.....works better.....and is less of a hassle....but does NOT have the brand name.....its worse?

also, i dont believe a clonecd update could make the plextor burn a perfect copy. it may have another amplify weak sectors option that boosts whatever macrovision did this time, but AWS does not lead to a perfect copy...

Ummm...plextor never used amplify weak sectors to burn a sfv2 game..just copy without this type of help....i think that there is a bug when writing and firmware can bypass this (has the same writing modes and options that liteon has so.....it wil back-up it later surely.....

We will wait....

I 'm gonna say that once again - since I 'm starting getting bored: SD2 titles cannot be copied perfectly by any cd recorder -NONE!
That's because SD2 consists of something called "digital signature" which is done during the mastering of the cd and this cannot be copied by cdr's. Simple as that! And, it didn't took me "so much time" to copy MOH with my PX. The only thing I 've used 'extra', was the betablocker. Great waste of time!

You should be getting bored with that closed mind.
I guess you didn’t research the cd/DVD writer’s forum or the clone clinic, did you? I provided a link for you in this thread!
Why do you keep saying no cd writer can copy a safedisk2.5-protected game? If you would read, you would find out that lite-on 12x, 24x,and 32x writers will copy this protection on the fly.
If you read you will find that this cheap writer is doing what the plex's cannot do "YET" The KEY WORD is YET!!!!!
I bought a plex 24x with no luck burning safedisk2.5!
I paid $159.00 for the drive and it is good for 70000 hrs as per their warranty.
I then bought a lite-on 24x for $85.00 and it is good for 70000 hrs just like the plex. So this means for $159.00 I could buy 2
Lite-ons and get 140000 hrs of use for the same price!
I here to tell you there is a writer than can copy 1:1 copies of safedisk2.5 protected games without the extra steps of using beta-blocker!!!!!
I am not trying to put you down, or your writer (remember I have a plex 24x also) I was in search of a writer that would copy from reader to writer so I researched and read and on the basis of my reading found the lite-on and now I can make perfect 1:1 copies without beta blocker :p

Anyone else reading this with half a brain and who can read please tell this man who refuses to research about the lite-on and how good it works!

Now I’m getting BORED with your closed mind, If you are so stupid that you cant take help and maybe read about the lite-on, It may make your burning life easer, then go ahead and make your life harder:D

Have a wonderful day!!!!

I still wouldn't buy a liteon. I 'm quite pleased with my PX. To say the truth I haven't read your reference - and I will - but for now here is another one, which supports my 'point of view':

"...The SafeDisc CD Protection is a software-based solution that does not require any changes to standard PC or CD-ROM hardware. It is comprised of both an authenticating digital signature embedded on the disc, as well as a multi-layered encrypted wrapper that secures the CD-ROM content. The digital signature, which cannot be copied by CD recorders or mastering equipment, is embedded by the laser beam recorder at the time the CD-ROM master is made at the mastering/replication facility."

I got it from http://www.gamecopyworld.no/games/pc_generic_safedisc.shtml

Now, how on earth are you able to make PERFECT copies with your writer, since according to this you can have only "working backups" of a SD2 title. I really don't know.

We can have perfect copies with the lite-on and clonecd because they will copy everything and not omit anything any of the protection. I dont know why it just works. As far as that article goes no one knew then about the lite-on. Why ask why, it works. Please just read the cd/dvd writers forum and the forums in clone clinic. Yes the plex is a good writer but its missing something when it comes to sd/2.5
I copied MOH, sims hot date and others using clonnyxxl and clonecd. Read from my tosheba reader and wrote from my lite-on 24x with 16x media and about 15 minutes later, perfect working copies! and all in 1 step no beta blocker.
Dont get me wrong, If your writer will not copy sd2.5 then you must use beta blocker. A good prog!
All Im asking is for you to open your mind and read what others have done with the lite-ons!!!
Im going out of town for 4 days, when I return I will then check your reply.

Just can't believe it.........only say that perfect backups were imppossible to obtain with any cd writer.......because ATIP......this is not due to the writer..just the cd type!!!!!!!
In the other hand will not discusse about plextor or liteon..... either plex or liteon has common things and other not so common...by now....just want to know if liteon can backup a star force copy-protection....plextor does....

Good luck!

What games use star force protection?
I have both writers, plex and lite-on and all Im saying is the lite-on can copy sd2.5. From reader to the writer all in 1 shot.

perfect 1:1 = when you don;t need to use other progs toplay e.g.
betablocker, daomontoosl, playback and no-cd
pathces ( even though the ATip code
stops them working just because of the cdrw it
is still perfect. and just have to tick hidecdrwmedia
i repeat this is not due to an imperfect copy!)

authenticating digital signature is fancy way of saying atip check.

also, i didnt quite go lite on on a burner, but i went phillips. anything that a phillips cant copy isnt a cd, is how i understand it :). maybe macrovision gets sued by phillips for calling these discs cd's, goes out of business.....no more safedisc.

im dreaming

I 've just read some posts on the CloneClinic forum. According to you (KC) and other
people as well, claim that with a LiteOn (at least the 24x version which I know) can
do PERFECT copies of SD 2.51. I also checked that as a fact at the clonecd site (supported
recorders) which, according to, the liteon had two points for the "correct EFM" thing.
So, is that that makes it capable of producing perfect SD2.51 copies? The PX 24 has one
EFM point instead. But I suppose that is a problem that can be fixed with a firmware
upgrade from Plextor - if they're willing to do it. It seems that there are two kinds of
people out there. Those who are willing to pay something more to buy a more "branded"
product and other who go for the best-value-for-money. I'm in the first category, and I
all I ask is that others should respect that. I 've been in many forums and I read useless
stuff most of the time just because people like to show off. When I posted here I was
hoping to help those PX owners having trouble just like me with the SD2.51. I didn't wrote
this to start a comparison with liteon's or whatever else. If I wanted to expand on that now,
I would say that liteon just won a battle (making a perfect copy of SD2.51) over Plextor.
But this doesn't makes liteons in general better writers, since Plextor always used to
make some of the best writers out there i.e the 8x scsi PX writer can still do a perfect
copy of the SD2.51 without betablocker or other progz. Then, if a writer like this one which
is alot older than a 24x liteon or a PX, has to be the best of all. Also, none of these
writers will be capable in the close future to always make perfect copies, because
macrovision will come up with something new. The question is, which writer will able to
"live" longer(MTBF) and handle most protections. I chosed a the 24x PX two months ago, and paid
£117 for it(yeah it was a good price from http://www.goldchip-uk.com/). So KC, this isn't
near half price for a liteon, which is something like £80 from PC world. Can you also tell me
which prog do you use to compare cd's. I use cd vergeich(don't know if I spelled it correctly)
for audio cd comparison... Also, my previous writer was a teac R55S which I had for three
years - which wasn't a bad choice if I look back.

2 points are for doing SD2.51 correctly! :)
