Can you do a flash upgrade?

The Mitsuimi models are very good for backing up yourown DC titles - even though they only burn at 4x.

Now I have just bought the latest Traxdata (CDRW8432+); I'm still testing BUT I have been able to backup DC titles using CLONECD. I used to have to use Disc Juggler 3.x with my two-speed Phlips - most of the DC titles did copy, but the program was a demo and forced the record speed to 1x!

From all the searching I have done on the internet, I think it comes down to two things as regards games backup: raw read + raw write. I don't think the Traxdata can do a full RAW read, which is why I'm using an old 24x Toshiba drive to do this bit. The games that Iv'e backed up (latest one's) do copy using CloneCD, although it takes an extra 10sec to load when you shut the DC door (like the machine is searching for something on the disk..). I burn my DC titles at 8x.

Most of the problems with DC titles are to do with the "self-booting" games, Games that require the boot disk can be easily copied -- it's all to do with the way the disc has to be recorded, and only certain hardware/software can handle this tricky proceedure.

A good source of information is the help file that comes with the latest version of CloneCD (updated on the net often), which lists in table form all the best writers on the market, as well as what's required of them.

Hope this helps in your quest!
