Can anyone tell me what the best cd writer for backing up protected games is.
Any info would be much appreciated.
Thanx
I think Plexter (I think I spelt it right) is the best, i have a Sony 140 but it can't copy red alert 2, I don't think any of the Sony writers can. But from what I have read in this forum Plexter writers can. So if you want to backup any game then Plexter is probably the one to buy.

I just purchased the Plextor 12/10/32s about 3 weeks ago. Haven't had a single coaster yet. Also, haven't had problems backing up games like Diablo II or Red Alert either. Definately a great buy. There's also the ATAPI version of this burner which I have heard good things about as well. Good luck and remember that you get what you pay for.

Thanks For the info I will probably get the plextor, but I have heard that the latest firmware isn't as good. Do you know if this is the case, and if so, can it be remedied
Yamaha 16x/10x/40x SCSI or Plextor 12x/10x/32x SCSI are the top 2, I would go with the Yamaha myself only because I have a Yamaha 8x/4x/24x SCSI and it works perfectly with clonecd.

The Plextor 12/10/32 is a winner. It does everything I need it to and quickly. I have even been using the IDE version without problems except that i can't seem to burn at 12x without errors.
