i use parrot 650mb but after 7% i can't burn pls tell me sony or tdk disks are good to use with clone cd??
I have used both Sony and TDk with CLoneCD. Worked a treat. However, for some some strange reason I found that Samnsung discs didn't like my Traxdata writer, and VCD films came out blocky - even audio cd's were bad. Sometimes a certain brand just won't play ball, although Iv'e found this to be very rare.
As long as CloneCD will work with your writer, you shouln't have too many hassles choosing different media brands. The help file that comes with CloneCD will list all compatible drives. What are you trying to burn? Self-boot Dreamcast Games? These require specif hardware support and will bomb out if your drive's not upto it!
Also, you're best advised with IDE cd-writers, not to have too many programs running in the backgound, especially if your computer is a slower machine. You're also advised to make sure you're hard drive isn't fragmented and that you've got enough RAM in your PC to keep it nice and nippy. Do a test burn first so you don't waste your investment and if that doesn't work, lower the record speed.
You shouldn't have any troubles at all with Sony or TDK. If you do, it's more than likey there's a problem with your software/hardware setup of your PC. These are very good discs indeed.
I'm not saying that the discs you're using are rubbish - it's just that with Sony etc. you know that certain quality standards and burn speeds are strictly adhered to.

man.. ive heard stories like these with warez/illegal copies of clonecd... - if u got an illegal copy then BUY clonecd! (tis worth it!!!)
... um ... apart from that .. have you got a clone compatable burner?
or... what the man above said about IDE cdwriters and what your advised to do.
if your pcs not that quick (ie under celeron-300a/pII266) then write at 2x... or maybe 4x
Thanks q3arenakman,
Update - Apparently there is ONE type of TDK disc you should be wary of: the REFLEX type. It turns out that these TDK-branded discs come from the RITEK factory - you know, the fatory that churns out Mirror, Nudgen etc. dics.
Just why on earth TDK would choose RITEK is news to me, but there you go. The reflex cd's are not as good as the normal TDK one's as they use a different die.
Also, I'm using a Cyrix 333+ CPU with 128MB ram. I know this CPU is as old as time, but I've found a little seting within Windows that helps you out one hell of a lot: the Windows disk cache. From the Win98 ####t menu, select "run", the just type "sysedit". Now find the field for the "VCACHE" setting.
Here's what Iv'e altered mine to:
[vcache]
MinFileCache=4096
MaxFileCache=32768
The MaxFileCacheSize should be 25% of your RAM. After altering this setting a stopped making so many coasters - alas I can only do MP3 to audio cd's at 4x. But the drive's quiter now and Win boots one hell of a lot faster.
I know I'm going off the beaten track here a bit, but I just thought I'd pass this info on to others who may own a dinosaur computer like mine!
