Please can someone tell me how to make cd-rw discs with games on them be read in cd rom's not a cd burner?
I get a statement that says that the game is an unknown format and it wants to format the cd again to try and get imformation on the disc that it can understand.

I have tried burning games on cd-rw several times the same thing happens!!

Unfortunately, many older CD-ROM drives will not read CD-RW discs at all. I actually had to go through 3 drives in my house on the different computers before I was able to read a CD-RW I had. My CD-ROM drive isn't that old but it is not new (a few years) and it was completely unable to read them. The only drive I could read it with was a 1 year old CD-ROM drive I believe. My guess would be that your drive isn't compatible like mine...

Thanx for your idea of my cd-rom being to old!

Maybe you are right but games don't seem to work on the cd-rw, and data does such as install files text works. So you can format the cd to work in a cd-rom in that situtuation, but not when games are on the cd-rw discs and that is what puzzles me!!

My cd-rom is a pioneer 36X non-tray cd rom about 2 or 3yrs old!!

Great if you could reply!!

I think he's right. The drive is probably too old. But to make sure you could go to Pioneer's website (http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/Pioneer/Home/0,1398,,00.html) look up the drive and check out it's readable formats. That will tell you right away. I had the same problem last year and that was the problem.
Good luck.

Are you sure that your cd-rom has "multi-read" support? Multi-read enables cd-roms to read CD-RW formats. I have a LiteOn 36X Rom that i bout 1 year ago, but is won't read CD-RW cause its doesn;t have multi-read support. Mostly all cd-roms that come out today are multi-read. Hope this helped.

There are 2 ways RW recording:
1.Write through the drive letter
2.Like a regular CD

Use No.2 and there will be no problems...
If you are using OS older then W98 then you have to instal UDF support...

Trust me, I have 2 RW drives and my first RW drive was HP7200 3 or 4 years ago:)
