View Full Version : Do you need to chip ps2 ?
Can any one help answer this question ....is chipping really needed to play back ups ....i dont want to get my ps2 chipped yet cause it still has it's warrenty and by chipping this kinda wipes this out ......is there any other way ? ie gameshark 2 etc....is there a swap disc trick and if so how is it done.....any advice would be great.....i dont want to play imports just straight back ups of pal games...thanks penz
There is a trick - it's called the "Knife Trick". It involves ripping off the tray flap; shoving a knife into the works at the right moment to pull the Eject lever; swapping the disk, etc.
That not only voids the warranty but shags the PS2 as well.
There are thousands on this forum who have chipped their PS2. Do you want to play backups or import originals?
I really just want to play back ups not too bothered about imports ...main thing is the warrenty cause it's still got another year and after having several sony products break down on me i would like the option of being able to take the thing back .....guess i'm gonna have to wait a while eh ? before i can play back ups or at least until warrenty runs out....do you still have to access the main board for the external mod chip devices ? or is there anything like gameshark etc .....used to be able to do straight copies with clone for ps1 and use external mod ....no more eh ? thanks for taking the time to answer though..
External mod needs 1 wire into the PS2 in order to send the "fooled you" signal when a backup is booted.
