Which Mod Chip Or BootDisc Should I Get?

I have a Playstation SCPH-1001. On the Giantstore.com it lists four choices.

1. Boot Disc
2. Mod Chip 4-wire
3. Mod Chip 8-wire
4. Psx Stealth external
The 8-wire sounds best but doesen't work with scph-100x. I can solder but rather not open the damn thing. What should I do? Thanks.

You really shouldn't bother with that model, probably well worn out by now. 9002 is the way to go.
