ok ive posted a few posts about my ps2 to find out what version it is,only got one answer but that wasnt convincing so if i cant find out ill sell it and buy a new one ive already started looking what the shops are selling and so far they are all 30002 r which i think is ver 5.
So my question to u is if u dont know how to tell the difference between ver 1 2 3 pal can u tell me if buying a version 5 will be ok for a major chip, what i read at origa is that the ver 5 has some trouble with there chip,at link-sang there neo 4 doesnt say if it will work in a ver 5,and cant find a messiah.
so any help in what i should do would be great thanks for any help.
recent news i just brought a 30002 8 screws on the botton so i think its a ver 4 so if u can tell me what i should do from here im thinking the origa an then one day if i get the messiah ill change it,so if u can give your thoughts thanks

If you actually take the thing apart as if to install a chip and compare it with the v4 motherboard picture on the Chipzone site (I think), you'll be able to identify your version. There's a v3 picture there too.

Then, for US only NEO4 and Origa are available. NEO4 is a crap chip in my view and won't work on v5. If you buy v5, you'd need to wait for PS2ownz to prove out ELVIS (but they are unlikely to be able to re-supply) or wait for Origa to prove out on v5 US; they will because thy're hoping to fill the gap .

Hope my opinion helps you
