Can I use Clone Cd to make backup copies of my playstation 2 games. If I use a GS v1.9 will I be able to play that copy on my playstation 2? How does it work without a patch? Could somebody explain before I try this process. Thanks

With a 100% compatable burner clone cd can read, write subchannel data making a 1;1 copy of the game, a clone, It along with a modchip and gameshark2 will allow you to play most backups without patching. If a game is anti mod protected then you will have to use cdrwin and a patch no matter what software you use or what burner you have.

I tried the clone cd method with Ready 2 Rumble 2 and when I tried it it seemed like it was a burned playstation 1 game and it didn't work only the playstation 1 symbol showed up. Do you know why?? I also tried the cdrwin method and it said that my source bin file was not the same size as the bin file on my .ppf. Do you know what that means...Do I have the wrong patch or am I doing something wrong. Please help..Thanks a lot.

What type of modchip do you have? If you burner is 100% compatable you shouldnt need to patch unless you are changing region code , ntsc to pal ect.

I'm not sure what type of modchip I have. I just know that I need the game shark to boot my backup copies. As for my burner, I have a Yamaha CRW8824. I used the cdrwin method to burn NBA Street and it worked because I used an EA patch. How do I know if my burner is 100% compatible?

The Yamaha 8824 won't handle sub-channel data on reading. This means that it can't transcribe protection data placed into the sub-channel bytes (96).

Do you have a separate CD reader? What does the Windows Device Manager reports as its mufacturer's name? If that supports sub-channel data then your burner can write it.

If not, you can't use CloneCD and you are stuck with patching if you can find protection fixes.

How does ppf o matic work?? does it change the .ppf file for you? Thanks for the help.

ppf-o-matic is handed a BIN file produced by CloneCD. It is also handed a patch to apply to that BIN file.. The source for the patch will state which version of the games can take that patch (it's a location and checksum thing).

The patch(PPF) is encoded with original information (esp. the CRC) so when you run ppf-o-matuc, it checks that the BIN file is the one intended for this patch. The patch is then written into the BIN file which can then be burned to CD-R.

If the PPF doesn't match the BIN, then don't bother - the game won't work.

ok...so when I run ppf o matic and I apply the patch to the bin file. Does it copy the new patch to the bin file for you. I applyed the patch and it said SUCCESSFUL. What do I do next, and which program do I use. I am using cdrwin to extract the playstation 2 disc. I am following directions from psx copy world and I am doing everything it says but it still doesn't work. Can somebody give me detailed directions on how to do this? I would really appreciate it. It seems as though my playstation 2 is reading my backup as a playstation 1 game. Please help. Thank You

how do you get a bin file using clone cd?? When I extracted the Playstation 2 game I only got image.ccd, IMAGE.img, Image.sub When using ppf o matic it needs the ppf and the bin file but I don't see the bin file...what do I do. Thanks.

When I run ppf o matic and I apply the patch to the bin file, does it copy the new patch to the bin file for you? I applyed the patch and it said SUCCESSFUL.
ANSWER: Yes. SUCCESSFUL is GOOD.

What do I do next, and which program do I use.
ANSWER: CDRWin as per the instructions at ####://www.psxcopyworld.co.uk. There's nothing to add. No further details to be given.

It seems as though my playstation 2 is reading my backup as a playstation 1 game.
ANSWER: You mean it stops at the Playstation symbol. It doesn't help that you don't know your modchip.

In all the circumstances I'd say you should use CloneCD which means upgrading to a Yamaha 2200 (I had to do this too). About 2 months ago someone reported getting some way with a CloneCD copied version.

Alternatively, have you visited the site ####://www.eapatcher.com to study this problem in greater depth?

Ok. Thanks for all the help by the way. I did use the EA patcher method for NBA Street and that worked good. I just haven't figured out how to do other games. After using the ppf o matic and it successfully patches. what file do I burn??

The BIN file. And Ready to Rumble 2 does require the EA Patcher method so far as I know.
