Okay I have been reading up that megagames has all these patches for PS2 games. How do they work, as in, do I create an imagefile of a PS2 game and then apply the patch and then burn it to a CD?
I have experience in making backups of PSX games, but evidently, making backups of PS2 games is significantly more detailed and I am so far confused.
I also have some kind of file ("usps2patch.exe") i got from www.dc-underground.com which, when I open it, shows me the name Paradox and gives me the options to clikc buttons for browse (for a cd image file), patch, create ppf, about, and exit. my question is what do i use this with?
now then, the text file included with this zip from www.dc-underground.com says:
"There are 2-3 ways to play a backup game on the PS2 by using the trick. The B.A.D. dudes found an easy way that allow you to swap the original cd only 1 time. Boot with the original PS2 Utility Disk, swap with backup cd and play the game. But you need to use this patcher first to do this easy swap trick. So, create an imagefile of your game in something like cdrwin and run the patcher. Alternatively you can use the 'create ppf' to make a patch file for distritbution so that others may easily for their images by just using applyppf and the generated patch."
In additition to all of this, everything I've read mentions a ps2 utility disk, but my american ps2 had no disc.
for example,

i am confused as hell right now and megames, while a good resource for info, does not have a detailed FAQ and no other site i have visited has been able to answer my questions so I know what I am doing. Will somsone please help me? I don't want to end up with 187 coasters.
Now, for the info:
I got an American PS2, no mod chip

I don`t own a ps2 but read alot about it first off you will need a chip and second the disk you are looking for is inside your ps2 you will have to take it a part to find it. here everything you need to know on this site
www.megagames.com/console/ps2swap/index.htm

Here is what I know.

PS2
JAP = Got a Utility Disc, Memory Card, DVD drivers on Memory Card
US = No Utility Disc, No Memory Card, DVD drivers built into system

In other words, we can't use the swap trick with our US PS2's now. All the patches right now are for use with the Jap PS2.

We'll just have to wait for the US PS2 modchips to finish. They are supposed to already be shipping since they have been testing them since the middle of this month.

But do you really want to mod it? I mean SONY has some evil plans with the modchip problems. They will be making games that can update the firmware of the PS2 that way the system will ignore the Modchip until another one is made. That means you will have to get a new modchip ever so often of get nothing but ripped PS2 games. I think I will be sticking with Full Originals for all my PS2 games since they are great.

DOA2:Hardcore rules. Way better then Tekken Tag.

Hope this helps you on these patches and stuff. If you need more info email me at sm2099**********com
