Hi! I'm new to the 'backup scene' in terms of the ps2. If anyone can give me a rundown on exactly what I need to backup ps2 games from scratch that would be a great help. I'm in the US and have a US ps2. Consider that I have just purchased the machine brand new. I've successfully patched psx games, but haven't had that much success with the ps2. any help is appreciated. thankx.
HI,
You need a mod chip (NEO2.2 or smilar) can order from www.plsytationmods.com you also need a boot CD for example action replay 2 or REGION X. Then you need a writer which is compatible with CLONE CD or CDR-WIN or NERO (dont like!!), if your lucky all three.
Use www.psxcopyworld.co.uk to help you backup your games (Deano's site)
Good Luck

You may prefer to use the modchip from www.modchip.com for a US PS2 but there is nothing bad I can say about NEO.
Patching PS2 games is the same process as with others. Just adding to Dal's valuable advice. When I ####ted out, I got my tutorials via www.megagames.com and it all worked easily foirst time. CDR-WIN and CLONECD are musts, but, as Dal says, carefully ##### the CD-writer compatibility.
Good luck
Just adding onto Charlies advice, if you are lucky enough that your writer is compatible with Clone CD you wont have to patch PAL games, just burn them. But if your using CDR-WIN or NERO you will.
But also there are different booting methods for different games.
Like Charlie said ##### out the web site he mentioned and use this thread and were all sort you out
Good Luck
