Okay.. i think ive tried just about everything. i want to run this past anyone who reads it.

----------------------------------------

1. I downloaded all 36 of the sonic2 files.
2. i used winrar to open the first file and extracted the .cdi inside to a folder.
3. i got ahold of the crack for the game. and with the .cdi and ppf, and the applyppf.exe all in the same folder i ran a dos prompt and typed:
APPLYPPF.EXE E-SONIC2.CDI E-SON2FX.PPF
4. it said that it patched it etc and so i got DiskJugler 3.50.799 (off their site) and installed it
5. i then opened disk jugler and went file>new... this opens a thing asking what type of cd i want to burn, i choose "CD Image to CD Recorder" and click ok
6. click the browse icon in sorce and locate the .cdi
7. clicked the advanced tab, and set mode to mode1 (ive also tried mode2, both made coasters)
8. everything under the misc is un#####ed
9. i put in a new, blank 80 min CD-R and burn it at 1x
10. i take the cd out put it directly into the dreamcast and turn it on
11. it boot up to the cd player thing.
12. i yell at the dreamcast and scream profanity!

----------------------------------------

ok.. so thats the steps i go through... if i missed one, or did one wrong, can someone help?

also i have some possible solutions:
durring step 7, should "turnicate CD" be #####ed?
in options, default tab, should "ignore read errors" be #####ed?
in options, Pre-mastering tab, should "force data CD only" be #####ed?

Ive tried to be through on how ive done this. this may help people understand how to do this a little better, but i MAY BE doing somthing wrong, cuz my burns dont work. PLEASE someone point out what is wrong =)
thank you

First of all - you should *NOT* change ANYTHING in the settings for Disc Juggler from their original default installed settings, with the exception of OVERBURN if you want to try overburning a disc. This doesn't mean all settings should be OFF, but what is ON should STAY ON and what is OFF should STAY OFF.

The settings required to burn a good disc with Disc Juggler are included in the .CDI. Changing settings in the ADVANCED tab may override some of these settings and cause you problems.

If you've changed settings and don't recall what they were when you installed Disc Juggler, the best thing I can think of (it's been suggested here from time to time), uninstall Disc Juggler and then reinstall it. Don't change ANY settings after reinstall.

Well ok. i went ahead and did what you told me and reinstalled everything. made SURE the cdi was cracked, and reburned the cd. it did all the tracks and everything else.
But it still continues NOT to load. =( i tried another game, same deal. But i DID burn a boot disk (utopia 1.1) That will boot up and go to the screen, but then if i take it out when it says so, and put the other game in. it just sits at the "swap disk" screen =( damn this
anyways. is there anything else i can do?

Can you see files on that disc if you place it in your CDROM drive on your computer? I'd bet you're seeing no files and 648meg of free space, right?

That's still a coaster. You have to be able to see the files on your computer if you expect the Dreamcast to see them.

when i put it in a cdrom it sees 2 tracks track1.cda, and track2.cda
both exactly 44 bytes =/

so its very similar to what you said. is there a way to fix this?

Correction: SOLD BY "Smart and Friendly"

Smart and Friendly is sort of like HiVal. They were (they're out of business now) OEM resellers of other manufacturers' hardware.

There's no telling now what type of drive that is, since S&F are gone and probably very few reference materials available to ##### it out.

Well that sUx, I was going to suggest you download the latest firmware for it or at least find out if the burner COMPLETELY supports multi-session burns.

According to Nero's supported recorders page, www.ahead.de, the Smart&Bankrupt CD-RW8020, is SCSI and supports DAO (Disc-At-Once), but that is it. The hyperlink leads to the dead S&F page, I love it, they use CD-RW as a model number, but it's not RW.

So much for that venture.

The only thing you can try is restore the advanced settings back to these

Mode: Audio
Offset; 0
Block: 2352
TOC: CD-DA
and the only thing that i have #####ed is, add post gap to third party images
(note, it may be your burner but i have burned this games and know that it works.)
