Hey, I'm curious about the Messiah. My PS2 is already chipped, can I still use the Messiah and if so, where do I get them from? (I live in Australia) Are they even out here yet. Any help would be great.

I partly answered this in the other reply. Messiah-J isn't available yet and there is no date. Hence my suggestion for the OrigaChip. The website I gave you specifies the Asia-Pac distributor. I couldn't wait for Messiah so I did OrigaChip and it's brilliant, especially because I retained the old chip - the one that does the Utility Disk swap. This enables me to boot DVD backups (my version of OrigaChip doesn't, latest version does) and all my p[reviously patched games that rely on the Paradox patch.

Anyway, let me know what you're thinking. You won't be able to do anything with PAL original games until you've got an OrigaChip or Messiah-J. PAL backups work, but as I said in the other post, DVD games can be problematic if you don't have a DVD burner.

By the way I successfully burned the 007 game and it plays.

Thanks for that site. I will check it out and see if i can understand it all (I'm new at this PS2 burning/chipping stuff) Just anoher couple of questions, at megagames.com, the ps2 patches are often labeled ntsc 2 pal or vis versa. I have a ntsc p2. Does that mean that the only patches that work for me are the pal 2 ntsc patches becuase they seem to be less frequent than ntsc 2 pal. Could you also possibly give me details on how you burnt 007? The patch address, software used, etc. Thanks once again!

Ypou'd be patching PAL to NTSC. But that often doesn't work and isn't often there. So do as I said, get a fully loaded scart lead (in UK it's made by BLAZE) and you won't need to patch the game. Or get a NTSC-PAL convertor (AV/RF) that sits between the PS2 and PAL TV for NTSC games.

NTSC games will play on your PS2 (as I'm sure you know) and may display on your TV in B&W.

As for 007, maybe there's more than one - but I copied the DVD game on my DVD Burnmer using PrimoDVD software.

This business costs money!

Ok. I'm trying to figure it all out now. I have a NTSC PS2 with a chip in it, i'm not sure what type of chip because i bought the PS2 second -hand, but it works by putting some boot disc in and it will eject the cd after about 10 secs and put the back-up cd in. Now, when I buy a PAL game, can I just do a clone copy becuase I have a chip, or do I have to use a PAL 2 NTSC patch because the console is NTSC? Sorry for my incompetence, but I just don't get it. Thanks.

Right. This is the definitive say so on JAP PS2 with a Utility Disk swap trick.

1/
For unprotected games (usually but not exclusively non-EA games), CDRWin is generally used. You take the image in RAW mode to hard disk producing a BIN file and a CUE file (instructions for the burning phase).

2/
You use either Universal Patcher 1.5 or ASA Patcher to patch the BIN file so that it will boot behind your Utility Disk. To do this, the patcher changes the name of the boot file to PBPX_902.2 and adjusts the entry in the SYSTEM file - all embedded in the BIN file.

3/
Then you can use PPF-O-MATIC with patches found at megagames.com or ps2ownz.com to do whatever is needed. Some PAL to NTSC patches work; I found that most didn't so I bought an NTSC-PAL convertor; others have bought a BLAZE Scart lead from PS2 to PAL TV so that NTSC games play in colour on the PAL TV. PAL games don't have to be patched for that purpose because the PS2 will play them and put PAL out the back.

4/
When patched, you use CDRWin to burn to CD-R at no more than 4x. This game will then boot behind the Utility Disk.

5/
For protected games, you have to use CloneCD. Because you can't boot them unless they have been through step 2 above, you have to rename the CloneCD IMG file to BIN; do the patching; rename back to IMG and complete the burn process back to CD-R with CloneCD. You need to have sub-channel data set for reading and RAW-DAO, "Don't repair sub-channel data" on writing. Full CloneCD settings are at ps2ownz.com.

So that's clear then!
