Lets get things straight here it may have been your first post but it was also a stupid one. Maybe if you'd posted a sensible question you'd have got a better response. I mean the readme file that comes with the patch tells you exactly what to type, now if you don't have the intelligence to type this out then really you deserve all the abuse you get.

OMG you are such an idiot Bravo, obviously since him and others have questions about this patching then not everyones patch came with a readme file. If your gonna be so useless then stay off the boards.

Syez sorry to burst your bubble but the patching proggie tells you the syntax to use, so like i said before if he can't follow simple instructions he deserves all the abuse he gets.

he strikes again BrAvO_BoY the jackass who died and you boss it appears your mother spit out a lemon i really feel sorry for her going thru life raising you it must be hard on her to raise an idiot who don't know the right way to reply to a post when you learn how to reply to a post you won't get the abuse your getting from me now i'll teach how to respond to a post it's seem like i got a lot of work ahead of me but i think i can show you how it's done i think it will be the first time for me trying to transform a jackass to a human but in your case i'll give it a shot so other people on this board won't have to deal with your jackass remarks .what do you people on this board think you i can turn him from a jackass to a human has anyone know if it's been done before ? p.s there will more coming if you keep it up BrAvO_BoY

If you spent as much time trying to figure out the sonic 2 patch as you did typing your last reply we wouldn't be having this discussion, by the way i do reply to sensible questions, it's the lazy ba####ds who are incapable of using the search button or following simple instructions that piss me off.

Wow, 10 posts and not even one attempt to answer the question....
I too am having difficulty. I downloaded the patch, then went over to the "PPF Patch Engine" page, and saw several programs for Bin files, but none for CDI. What, exactly, should I be downloading and exactly how do I use it? This is not a dumb question. If I have one complaint about dccopyworld, its that it gives tons of different programs exposure but doesn't offer one clear cut do-this-and-you'll-have-no-problems step by step guide. What I'm looking for is a GUI so I don't have to endlessly type stuff in, but I'd go that route too if needed. But after downloading three different zip files of different programs and all of them pertaining to Playstation BIN files and not Dreamcast CDI files I think I'm getting upset.....

A quick tip for the original author....
Do searches.
You can get your answer (usually) if you are just willing to dig. The people here are nice, but you have to realize they are asked the same questions repeatedly. ("What's a CDI?" "What's a boot disk?" "Can burned games be copied?" Etc.)
I have every expectation that by the time someone gets around to finally answering my question (and yours) that I will have figured out just what the hell those piss poor README files were talking about.
Best of luck to you.

Yup, figured it out.
In the "PPF Patch Engine" page, download the first zip under the yellow subheading "PPF-O-MATIC." Make sure original CDI image, PPF patch, file_id are in the same directory. (More might be needed, but I know these need to be here at least.) Type the command line that you were given in the Sonic 2 fix. You'll see that the program makes no distinction between CDI and CDRwin files.
I'm sure there's a better way, but I just looked at this stuff 5 minutes ago.
Also, if I'm wrong in these steps, SOMEONE PLEASE SAY SO. I'd hate to lead someone down the wrong path, not to mention confusing myself.

By the way, anyone know the difference between the original Echelon release and the fixed version?
I'd be curious to know. I might've just patched an already-patched game (not that this would cause any problems). In the INFO file it says something about the problem being in the "last mode"... What the hell does that mean?
Anyway, just thought I'd ask so I could know what to look for....
